Interview with Veselin Topalov at KCF Academy

On May 5 subscribers of Kasparov Chess Foundation Academy will gather for an exclusive interview with Veselin Topalov.

Veselin Topalov, born in 1975, etched his name into the annals of chess history with his remarkable achievements from 2005 to 2014. Renowned for his dynamic style of play, Topalov emerged as one of the most formidable players on the world stage.

In the early 1990s, Topalov made the pivotal decision to relocate to Spain, where he trained under the guidance of his coach and manager, Silvio Danailov. His talent was evident from a young age, as he clinched the title of World Champion U14 in 1989.

Topalov's crowning moment came in 2005 when he seized the World Chess Championship title at San Luis, Argentina, with an awe-inspiring performance rating of 2890. However, controversy marred his reign, as he faced off against Vladimir Kramnik in a contentious match in 2006, ultimately relinquishing his title.

Undeterred, Topalov continued to pursue greatness, challenging Vishy Anand for the World Championship title in 2010. Though the battle was fierce, Topalov's legacy as a chess icon was firmly established.

Throughout his illustrious career, Topalov ascended to the pinnacle of the chess world, earning the prestigious title of world number one multiple times and achieving a peak rating of 2816 in July 2015.

A stalwart of the chess Olympiads, Topalov represented his country with distinction on nine occasions, securing gold medals and delivering outstanding performances.

Topalov's true greatness lies in his dynamic style of play, reminiscent of chess legends Robert Fischer and Garry Kasparov.

We are looking forward to Sunday, May 5 to have an amazing opportunity to talk to a real chess legend!
