Nigel Davies:
A busy person’s opening system
Players with interests and commitments away from the chess board often find it difficult to compete against those with more study time. Their opponents come to the board armed with the latest theory and can bash out moves well into the middle game. On this DVD Nigel Davies addresses this issue by demonstrating a simple and easy to learn opening system designed for the busy person.

Chess and Music Festival in the Château de Villandry, France

After the 2007
Festival with the theme “Philidor”, with Viktor Korchnoi and
Alexandra Kosteniuk, Henri Carvallo, the owner of the Château de Villandry, this
year organised a festival where the keynote was France and Chinese friendship.
A friendly match between China and France was arranged, with a playing time
of 15 minutes per game with a ten second increment per move. The event took
place on October 9th, 10th and 11th, 2009.
Every year the Château de Villandry receives 400,000 visitors (the fourth
mostly visited château in France). It was built during the Renaissance and the garden
is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world.

Each player played two games against each player of the other team. The original
part of this match was the “mixed double” with each player of each
team playing alternately. The idea of this match was to create something similar
to the Davis Cup in tennis.
