The four participants will play a double round robin, with each Swiss GM playing each German twice, at classical time controls (2 h / 40 moves + 1 h / rest). Kortschnoj and Lutz are the top players of Switzerland and Germany, Pelletier and Naiditsch are the brightest young stars of their countries.

  • Venue: Zürich, Hotel Savoy (Paradeplatz)
  • Time: Saturday Sept. 7th 2002, 14.00 MET (12:00 GMT, 8 a.m. NY) and Sunday Sept. 8th 2002, 13.00 MET.
  • Commentary: GM Lucas Brunner.
  • Audience: Entry free.

All games will be transmitted live on the Fritz7 Playchess server. The second round will be played in Berlin on the next weekend. Venue: Casino Berlin, Alexanderplatz, 37th storey. Times: Saturday Sept 14th 2002, 14.00 MET, Sunday Sept. 15th 2002, 13.00 MET.
