Nigel Davies:
Build a 1.d4 Repertoire
Creating a Repertoire can be a difficult and demanding job, especially for
those with limited study time. Attempts to implement a lot of new openings at the
same time can set a player adrift in a sea of unknown chess patterns. This in turn can
have a catastrophic impact on their game.
On this DVD Nigel Davies explains how to go about this process of building a repertoire
the right way, with a minimal amount of stress or sweeping wholesale changes.

Tomsk

Tomsk, a centre of the Tomsk region, is located on the right bank of the Tom
river. It was founded in 1604 after the Russian tsar Boris Godunov ordered
Cossack leader Gavril Pisemsky and officer Vasiliy Tyrkov to found a fort on
the Tom River, on Tatar land, to protect the river crossing and Eushta population
from Kalmyk and Kyrghiz tribes.

In 1629 Tomsk was raised into the status of a centre of the region. It became
important as a military center for pacifying the native people and evolved
into a regional administrative center. Beginning in the late 1830s, its population
grew quickly thanks to the intensifying gold-mining activity in Siberia. The
present Tomsk with a population of 473 thousand is one of the largest industrial,
scientific and cultural centers of Western Siberia.
