Turin 2006: After round four

The leading Russian beats China 3-1, with Kramnik and Bareev drawing and Svidler and Grischuk (who is now on board three) winning. With this defeat China has dropped to place nine. Armenia defeated Norway 4-0 to join Russia in the lead. Both teams have four match points and 13.5 board points. The Netherlands beat Greece 3-1 for a 4-0/13-3 (match/board points) score and third place. Uzbekistan and Ukraine tied 2-2, with Rustam Kasimdzhanov defeating Vassily Ivanchuk. India beat Hungary 2½:1½, with the three top boards (Anand, Sasikiran and Harikrishna) drawing, but Ganguly winning. Georgia beat Germany 2½-1½. The USA beat Poland 3:1, with Kamsky, Nakamura and Ibragimov scoring. GM Viktor Laznicka of the Czech Republic, rated 2551, is the only player left with a 4-0 score.

Women's section

Russia defeated Lithuania 3-0. Even though Alexandra Kosteniuk was rested, the two Kosintseva sisters and Ekaterina Kovalevskays brought home the points (and ruined Viktorija Cmilyte's perfect 3-0 score with a first loss). China lost to Ukraine 1-2, when Kateryna Lahno defeated Wang Yu. Kateryna and Tatiana Kosintseva are the only 2400+ players with a perfect 4-0 score.
