might be a Russian spy, and that Moscow might have tried to enlist young Bobby
as well. Records obtained by the Philadelphia
Inquirer also suggest that Fischer father was not German biophysicist
Hans-Gerhardt Fischer but Paul Nemenyi, a Hungarian physicist who worked on the development of the
atomic bomb in the Manhattan Project at the University of Chicago.

Chess Olympiad in Bled, Slovenia? One hot candidate is 16-year-old Tatjana
Kosintseva, who scored a fantastic 11 out of 12 for the Russian women's
team. Our correspondent Anna Dergatscheva predicts that this could be a future

Kasparov vs Deep Junior in January 2003

– It was scheduled for December 1st, now the FIDE Man vs Machine event, featuring Garry Kasparov vs Deep Junior, has been moved to January 5th 2003. One of the reasons: a giant media company is expected to take over the coverage. The second: the main sponsor, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has other pressing duties. On the 1st of December he has to accompany Russian president Vladimir Putin on a trip to China.

Gold for Russia, Silver for Hungary

X3D World Chess Match of the Champions

– It's like the good old days. Karpov vs Kasparov. The atmosphere of the eighties
is being recreated by X3DWorld, a company that is trying to bring 3D-TV onto
our computer screens. On December 19 and 20 the two ex world champions are going
to face each other in the ABC Studios in Time Square for a rapid chess "Match
of the Champions". It will be broadcast on the X3DWorld
web site. We do not know whether in 2 or 3D.

The masked men ride again

– The eastern German chip manufacturer "Zentrum
Mikroelektronik Dresden" (ZMD) are showing their products at the Electronica
in Munich. CEO Thilo von Selchow is a great friend of Garry Kasparov, who is
going to be at the ZMD stand
on November 13. It is not the first time the chip manufacturer and the chess champion
have got together.

Bled Olympiad Round 13 – draws all around

– The top boards treated us to the most boring day of the 35 Olympiad in Bled. Russia vs Israel: all games drawn, Hungary (in hot pursuit) vs Armenia: all draws. The longest game was 17 moves, the shortest 12. Germany vs England also produced four draws, but at least Adams-Lutz lasted 35 moves. We bring you (yawn) games, results and many interesting links
