Unive 04: So dominant

by ChessBase
10/25/2013 – With today's win Wesley So has basically won the tournament in Hoogevens. He has a commanding 1.5 point lead over Van Kampen. With two rounds left this seems like an impossible task to overcome, although anything could theoretically still happen. Adams and Van Wely have been unable to find good form and are shedding 20 rating points between them both. GM Analysis of So's victory.

The small town of Hoogeveen is again a center of attention for the chess world. Both the Unive Crown Tournament and the Unive Open have started in Hoogeveen, sponsored by the Unive cooperative insurance company in the Netherlands. The main attraction is of course the super grandmaster double round robin tournament that will run from the 20th of October until the 27th.

Round 4

Van Kampen continues having a good tournament. He is at 50% and today he successfully held the black pieces against Adams in a Paulsen Sicilian.

Adams hasn't found his mojo that accompanied him during the last two tournaments, and he is losing 10 rating points

With today's victory over Van Wely, So is poised to win the event as he is 1.5 points ahead of Van Kampen with only two rounds to go

Loek Van Wely goes over what went wrong in his game against So while his wife, WIM Lorena Zepeda, watches with enthusiasm
